Your Business Mindset
People aren’t going to like what I have to say today.
Mindset is one of those things where it’s everything and it’s nothing all at the same time. There are people who make a lot of money telling you it’s everything, but that’s not always the case.
Don’t get me wrong. Mindset is definitely important and part of the battle, but we’ve turned into a society of fat squishy babies who want to feel good all the time.
In this episode, I give my tough love for your business mindset, and it’s going to get a little uncomfortable.
As always, I love to hear your thoughts, so please let a comment below if you agree…
Or even if you don’t!
Hey, guys, this is Julie. I don’t really have a lot to say, but let’s just see what comes out of my mouth.
I had a person ask me like, “what do you think about business mindset?”
I sat here kind of thinking. I don’t know what I think about it, but I have a few things to say. But I’m not sure that you’re gonna want to hear it.
So here’s why I think people aren’t gonna like what I have to say today.
I think mindset is everything and it’s nothing and there are people making a lot of money trying to tell you that mindset is everything. It’s really important.
Mindset is definitely part of the battle.
But I think a lot of us are just frankly fat squishy babies and we want things to feel good all the time. We’ve been immersed in a culture that’s all about feel good.
Feel good this, feels good that…and you know what?
Come on, guys! For thousands of years feeling good was not even anything that humanity thought of. It was like survive, fight, build, grow, eat, repeat.
You know, like we didn’t have time to like, worry about if our job made us feel good.
So now you know we’ve advanced we’ve evolved and we have a lot of things that we didn’t have before. So now we have more time to think about mindset which you know, let’s be honest- more mindset means more creativity, which means crazy inventions and things that
the world has never seen before.
But it also makes us really entitled. It’s not your right to feel good, like it’s your right as a human to have food and shelter and clothing and have respect.
But like- I don’t know where we got this idea that we were supposed to feel good about everything we do. And when I built my business, a lot of it didn’t feel good but I didn’t really have a choice because of the situation I was in.
So if you find yourself kind of giving an excuse of well you know, “my motivation is down. I feel like my mindset isn’t right. I’m blocked.”
Sometimes action is the only thing that’s gonna change your mind.
And we always say that belief precedes action and it’s true.
You believe something strongly therefore you act and that’s absolutely true.
But the reverse is true too sometimes. You need to act even if you don’t feel the way you’re acting because the actual act of acting will make you start to believe it.
So if you’re uncomfortable about your business, if you’re uncomfortable to raise your prices, if you’re uncomfortable to become more visible, sometimes the solution isn’t sitting around a candle you know- humming and hawing about how to like clear your mindset blocks.
Sometimes it’s just no go get visible, go do what hurts, go do what feels really uncomfortable because that’s gonna change your mindset.
So it’s kind of an excuse and no excuse. Mindset is everything in mindset is nothing take action even when it doesn’t feel good.
So I know that the best conversations happen after the camera stops rolling.
So if you have something to say below about mindset, even if you disagree with me, let me know in the comments below and of course, if you like this video there’s tons more over at juliechenell.com you can watch them all leave messages for them all. I read them all and I will talk to you soon.
